So... I cam home from the mall with wonderful bourbon chicken, and fried rice. I thought well...I haven't seen him all day, why not have him out while I eat. Alot of the time Jasper ignores any food I offer myself, but if he tries it out himself he's all for it. At the time I was unsure if this was good/bad, but I leaned toward the middle, sort of like eggs...and only in moderation. He climbed up, took a bite, and after that he was scrambling for my rice! After I felt he was having a little too much I decided to keep him away. Obviously Jas is still fine, healthy...loud (:D), but had I made a stupid mistake, and possibly risked my young birds life?

I'm sure he's fine.
As a child, I gave Halley some fatty/bad things for him, in moderation. Yes it was a bit stupid of me, but it's not as though your bird's living off fried rice. And at least now you know that he likes rice! Now you can cook him some nice brown rice that he'll enjoy.

I loveee fried rice so I don't blame him.
You can cook up some brown rice and try see if he likes that, he probably will plus it is good for him. (contains carbohydrates, iodine, iron and other vitamins and minerals) Also only feed in moderation and like all fresh foods, don't allow it to remain in the cage more than 2 hours.
I'm sure the rice itself is fine (plain rice) but personally I wouldn't feed my birds fried rice for a few reasons. I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong here.
It can be VERY oily and some of the sauces they use contain MSG or other things that probably aren't good for your bird. Though I wouldn't see a problem with a homemade fried rice so you can limit what you throw in but I would still be apprehensive to use any sauces.
Granted we're not feeding our birds fried rice every day and its a one off, thats my view.

Lol! Wow, it's amazing what will catch a bird's eye! I tried to feed Jas some Cranberries yesterday and it was a not go, but he was trying to eat my cereal! Which was pretty much just flax and almonds!
