Ok, there's a horse I ride and her name is Fassy. Last night her owner was away and we were told to do the evening for her, feed her, put rugs on etc. I was in a rush - it was freezing and raining heavy. Anyway, in the feed room there is 2 identical bins with feed in. One containing sugar beet, the other pony nuts. Sugar beet is very bad for horses if it isn't soaked, and causes digestive problems. Anyway, I quickly gave her her food and went home, not realising what I'd done.
The next day, we got a phone call from her owner, Sue saying that Fassy had been taken to the equine vets because of her coughing up blood in the morning. And it was all because I gave her sugar beet. :( She told me that it wasn't my fault and she should have labelled them, but I still feel so bad. Fassy now has to stay at the vets for 2-3 nights, and god knows what the vets bill is going to be, all because of me. :(
