My visual lutino hen and my normal cock (split for Lutino) have had a clutch..

And I was wondering if I could sex the chicks by mutation... I realise that the lutino chicks can be either male or female... But will the normal greys only be hens?

Thanks for your help...

No, there's no way you can tell the genders with that combination.

Father - Grey split lutino
Mother - Lutino

Male chicks -

50% (chance of) Grey split lutino
50% (chance of) Lutino

Female chicks -

50% (chance of) Grey
50% (chance of) Lutino

Do you know if your male is split to anything else? Such as pearl? If split to pearl you would then get some lutino pearls, which would be females. Or if both birds are split to pied?

The father of the chick is only split to lutino... (His Mum was a visual Lutino and his Dad was a normal...)

Which I guess answers my own question - cause if the chicks father turn out to be a boy, then obviously the normal chicks can be either hens or cocks...
