I will try get some pics of his cage it is about almost 6 foot tall 2 and a half wide and 2 and a half deep. I plan on getting more gliders after the first of the year. But I think that cage is not really big enough for more than two as far as gliders go the bigger the better! I will try post some pics soon!

I have Ruby the rabbit, Ziggy the Guinea Pig and Dooby the cranky cockatiel.

Ziggy won't be with us much longer, he has cancer but at the moment it is only in the early stages and he isn't suffering at all. As soon as I think he is beginning to suffer, I will take him to the vet. He has given us four lovely years so there is no way I am going to repay his loving, kindness by making him suffer.

I have:

1 'tiel... of course
1 tarantula,
5-6 crickets(which will all be eaten in a few days by the tarantula).

My brother raises guppies, platys, and some other types of fish.

And we have owned in the past:

scorpions, lizards, two grass snakes, a boa constrictor, frogs, toads, a bullfrog, a turtle, betas, two rabbits and a couple other animals. Its funny 'cause most of the animals we've owned, we've found in our yard or around our house.

Bea

 I'm never coming near your house. :p What a terrifying pet to own.

Tiki
01-05-2008, 01:05 PM
They had one at the pet store. They make me laugh because they look like an eight-fingered hand. :p I have touched one before, but I wouldn't know why someone would want one as a pet. lol :)

birdboykaufman
01-05-2008, 01:49 PM
Shes a rose footed tarantula, I think. They're actually very calm and if they are provoked enough to strike(which takes a lot of provoking) it would not be much worse than a bee sting. I'll have to get you a pic of her skin next time she moults, it's real interesting.

Oh, I can't believe it!! I forgot our miniature doxie, walnut. I probably forgot him 'cause he's always laying under blankets and stuff like that.

I can't even look at them! Once for a photoshop assignment at school i had to make an image to represent Nightmare, i thought of spiders. I started to do it, but found i couldn't look at the pics in google long enough to choose the best one, and definitely not long enough to crop one out. :p

Do tarantulas weave webs?...could she lay eggs?

Yes, they do weave webs, but not the type a black widow, which are pretty common here, or any other spider would. They weave it on the ground, and create tripwires near where they hide then when an insect comes close they strike. Some called trapdoor spiders dig a hole in the ground make a trapdoor and then tripwires all around their hole. Then when an insect comes close and trips the tripwires, the spider jumps out and gets 'em. I've always wanted one of the trapdoor spiders.

And about the eggs... they lay egg sacs with up to, I think, 1000 eggs in it. I don't know much about their reproduction 'cause I've never bred her.

Bleh! Hate all spiders, big and small!!!
We actually have black widows here. A lot of people go to Australia on holiday here and they've brought them back. The environment here is a lot like some parts of Australia so they've thrived.

Thanks everybody for your kind thoughts about Ziggy, he's still ok, squeaking and wheaking when he hears his food bag rustling. lol. He really is a little darling and we just love him to bits, it's going to be sad when he goes, but that's all part and parcel of being a pet owner. It's good that we have video of him and of course loads of photos and the only memories we will be left with are good ones.

As for spiders........eeeewwwww, you can keep them thank you very much. I think they are absolutely fascinating creatures, the intricate way they spin a web, the way they bind up their prey to save for later, really clever, but no thanks, I really, really don't want one in the house, I freak out when we get one inside.
