My dad woke me up on New Year's Morning to inform me that my 2-year-old budgie Henry was dead on the floor of his cage. (I was still really groggy; I guess my conscious was so shocked at what I just heard that I thought that statement was a part of a nightmare I was just waking up from.) My family and I are going to get Bindi checked out by a vet, (the only vet we have readily available only does dogs and cats), since she was in the same room (the living room) as Henry was when he passed and she might have contracted whatever killed him, too (although we're really hoping she didn't.)
What's funny is that my mom was very skeptical that she'd turn into a bird person when we first started with our little hobby, and now she insists that, in time, we have to get another budgie. Both of us miss him and his little morning singing dearly, and I'm sure my dad (who usually doesn't "emote") feels the same way. (Just yesterday I saw him paying more attention to Bindi like she could leave us just as quickly; like I said, he's good at masking his emotions from others, but he's not good at doing the same thing for himself.)
