Virus

I somehow got this major virus in my computer a few days before Christmas and I am still dealing with it :eek: but its getting much better a few days ago I could barely even get on the internet there was so many popups and slowwwww it kept freezing up on me I would get through like 1 or 2 posts and that would be it, I found a website that really helped me out told me what to download spybot adware combofixer etc.... so I followed the steps and we are now getting somwhere its much faster and its not freezing anymore but I still have work to do.

Don't know why but my antivirus never picked it up :rolleyes:
For the last two days I have been removing files from my computer don't know where they came from but I ended up with over 5000 yes I said 5000:blink: pos tempary files in my local C drive that should not be there its taking a long time to remove them, silly me was doing it manually one by one till my daughter pointed out that I could do more then one at a time...lol :p hopefully once there all removed it will be much better, I have owned a computer for over 12 yrs now and this is the first time I have got a virus and hopefully its the last :blink:

the fastest way to delete temp. files is when you've got a Page open (even if it's this page) go to tools > internet options> then under the section browsing click delete that deletes temp. files

if your in your temp. file folder just Hit your CTRL key and the letter A at the same time AFTER you have one file highlighted already, and it will highlight ALL the files then just hit Enter or delete

while your at it , you will want to delete all your cookies and Empty your trash bin on your desk top along with doign a disk clean up and defrag

there is alot of new viruses out, that some virius protectors won't find until they've been out for a while

when downloading music became a big thing, I went to Kazaa - HUGE mistake, My computer was brand new Virus free I run a virus scanner about 4 times a day or more depending on how many different sites my computer has went to in that day

I had over 5,000 viruses from downloading ONE single song!

I stopped using Kazza deleted it off my computer completly and started using Limewire
the sad thing is the songs I download, I own the cd, but it's all scratched to no return and they won't play right , plus i like listing to music while surfing the net - so it's just easier for me to have a file of songs on my computer to listen to while i surf the net

Thanks for the tips :D I do the disk clean up and defrag regularly but I always forget about the cookies :rolleyes: but now that this happened I am more aware of whats going on and what can happen, I use to use Kazzaa as well years ago but when I switched my isp my new antivirus won't even let me open it soon as I click on it, it shuts down so I stopped using it now I use Limewire I like to listen to music as well when I surf :)

Iam glad your computer is getting better. I like to listen to songs well I surf too. Epecially since I got my new speakers for Christmas. With new sound card because my old one broke as I was hooking up the new speakers :( At least music sounds really good now. I use launchcast to listen to music, and I use Itunes to get songs for my ipod.

Blahh. I hate viruses, one stupid virus I got kept giving me innapropriate pop-ups. SOOO annoying! :(
