I searched the site for listings on bird fairs and didn't find any info.

I was told by a friend (who has a neighbor that breeds birds) that every second Saturday of the month in Rolling Meadows, IL there is a bird fair. My friend and I are bringing our kids to it this weekend.

We don't have them here. Only thing we have here is a pet expo which is mostly for cats and dogs. The only thing i seen there last year was a small bird cage for sale. Oh my. I'd love to live somewhere that has bird shows

It would be great, wouldn't it. But we don't have them here either :( But I probably wouldn't have time to visit them anyway.

I would love to go to an American bird fair. From the sounds of it there are all kinds of birds and accessories for great prices. Here we have a pet expo once a year which has a small table with birds, and there's an annual bird club sale.

We have them a lot. I go to my bird club's, and once I went to one in Ottawa.

Wow I can't believe some areas don't have bird expos! When I get back home Saturday I'll have to let you all know what I thought of this one. From what I here all different bird breeders have all different breeds for sale and then there are vendors with cages and toys ect! Plus I guess the birds are suppose to be priced low.

It sounds like fun. I would wash up after though, in case not all the birds are healthy.

Yes good idea! I usually did try to make sure the boys and I washed our hands after even playing with our bird, so that is a good idea after being around all those birds.

I went to one this past september in indianopolis, the only thing i really liked was the price of feed, we got 2 20 pnd bags of zurpreem avian maintaince fruit blend for 28.00 each, one for the budgies and one in cockatiel size

the prices on thier birds some were the same i could get around my own house(which i only live a hour from indianapolis), and some were just striaght up out rageous, the toys were high in my view, I could make the same excat toys i was looking at for a good 5-10 bucks cheeper if not more, my kids had fun and I did get 2 budgies from it for 10 a piece

but the lady we bought the food off of said that that one was the smallest she's ever been too so that could of been why it didn't impress me much ( it was my 1st bird fair)

If you get bird talk magazine there are listing in the back of it of all the bird fairs,

i normally just put bird fairs in Indiana, or bird Fairs in Ohio, in my search engine to get listings of the bird fairs

Right now we are going to look around ask some questions and maybe buy supplies. My boys have their parakeets paid for and on reserve till the end of the month. I have my eye on the baby cockatiels they have. I guess I would only bring a tiel home if they had a baby and it was priced really cheap. It would really have to be a great deal though!

The idea of going is for my friend and I to get our kids involved. We have taken pictures of the parakeets (my friend has her keets at home already) and the kids can bring the pictures and ask breeders questions, simple stuff like is it a boy or girl and why, or what color is it...
