Bird species, and how there pronounced?

Im always pronouncing bird species wrong, does anyone else have this problem? i was watching a couple of vids on you tube, and here are a few that i was pronouncing wrong
spelling / pronounced

moluccan cockatoo / moo loo can cockatoo
ducorps cockatoo / do corps?
galah cockatoo / gala cockatoo (as in the bingo place)
pionus parrot / pie nus parrot
timneh grey / tim ney grey ?
caique / cake
hahns macaw / harns? macaw
conures / con yours

there are others, but i cant think of hand, so come on what do yous get mixed up with? please tell me if i have still pronounced the above wrong, thanks

Thats how I do it. Although cai-eek, cake, and kike are all ways of saying Caique. :)

I seen a guy with an Electus in the pet store and I said oh what a cute electus and he said I pronounced it wrong :rolleyes: http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/electus It does not seem to be in the dictionary. Good link though :)

That's how i pronounce them. You have to take into account that pronunciation will sound different with different accents, i know i hear american's pronouncing some species and it sounds tonnes different to how i hear them pronounced here.

now that one i know i pronounce wrong, but i still wanna own one of these days, and i think the females are just beautiful with thier bright red and blue colors

I think when i do pronounce it I leave out the 1st C and just pronounce it as Electus LOL
