View Full Version : Increase in hawks...

I don't know what it is but over the last year I noticed there has been a LARGE increase in hawks around the area. I never use to see them at all..then it was just one or two. Now everytime I go outside I see them all the time. By my mom's house they're some now that just hang out there gliding. She said one of them perched on the fence behind her house and it was HUGE-she grabbed her cat and ran inside. Today I was on my balcony and two of them were gliding around the lake and one landed on the roof and then took a dive for a fish or turtle-I don't know what it was but it grabbed something.. Either way, there's so many around now!

Maybe they're migrating?

possibly an increase, from all the prey animals humans bring... rats etc.. or possibly something used to live around there that humans have wiped out.. like a lizard who used to eat their eggs or something... dunno...
either way.. be careful with your sweeties!

Yeah I know. Makes me really glad I don't take them out anymore. I just find it really weird that they're everywhere now..

We have some hawks around here too. You should get some photos of them, hint hint ;)

I tried-they fly too high up for my camera-I don't have the right lens..or ability to put a lens on it... :(

wow! That's a beatiful pic! The ones here are darker colored from what I've seen.

Thanks :) The guy who was holding him looked at me like I was crazy. I took a few to get just the one I wanted :p

At the Zoo after they did the bird show. The guy gave the hawk a snack :)

I've been wanting to go to the zoo or butterfly world for some nice shots!
