Is there a way to find close neighbors

I have asked and seen others ask where other members live in a hope to find some one near to where we live. But is there some method in place that I am not aware of that would tell us of any forum members who might be located close to where we are simply and quickly?

I don't mean searching the entire memeber list for location one by one . But is there some built in system that would bring up all the locations / addresses by clicking on maybe that designation?

It would be every appealing to me to be able to not only speak to teil lovers all over the globe but especially those that may live close enough to drive over and visit.

But more specifically who is close to a given area or zip code.

Sort of like the system used to find a branch of a store. You insert your zip code and the number of miles away you want to consider and it list all that fit. or is there some system that might give the same information with out having to check each and every member's profile.

A big reason why there is most likely not something like that is privacy. Children join this site which can be very dangerous if such information was made ready for anyone to look at. The most you can do is look at the state or country people post on their profile. I don't think many people even post their county or town that they live in for safety reasons.

I don't know if having a map solely for the purpose of identifying where people are from would be comfortable for everyone, so consent would possibly be needed to set this up. If you happen to see someone who lives near you, because they have chosen to display it on their profile, you could pm them to get to know them or ask them a localised question. I met up with a member here to buy a cage off her, which wouldn't have happened if we didn't know we lived nearby each other, so it definitely has its plusses! if it would work I personally wouldn't mind it at all, it's not as though it would be displaying exact addresses....

I didn't for a moment mean or intend to use any information obtained here to go barging in on anyone unannounced. In fact I subscribe to another Bulletin Board that uses the very same format as this one and there are a lot of safe guards to prevent that and any unwanted contact even in print.

On that other forum you can supply as much or as little information as you wish in your profile ass we can here. But you can also refuse to accept even any PM s or Emails of your choosing.

Hence if all you give is your country or just your state that is all anyone would get . In fact on that other like here we talk with many who we never really even know their real names. But if you wished you could give even a town and not a Physical address or phone number and the only contacting means would be online and even then you can restrict that as well to either Email or PMs or both.

So I didn't intend or WANT any unwanted intrusion into any one's Privacy or personal information. In fact I would only initiate the exchange with those who where agreeable and then only on THEIR terms and methods.

Which is just the other side of Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans , Louisiana and since moving after being displaced in 2005 by Hurricane Katrina I am looking around for Cockatiel breeders , hobbyist and suppliers in this area/

I still go over to N.O. on occasion but that isa a long boering 25 + mile ride across the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge and that can add up to more than 30 -35 miles each way. I do on rare occasion still see GNO Expo events on the other shore but even that can be a all day affair if worthwhile. So finding people with like interest closer by would be a blessing.

Have you tried hoobly.com or ebayclassifieds.com? Both of those will have tiels for sale and breeders and you can search in your area. Also birdbreeders.com should also have a list of breeders in your area.
