I walked in a pet store the other day to see the cute little birdies. :) Here is a list of the birdies they had...

Hawk-Headed Parrot
Blue and Gold Macaw
2 Pionus (White-capped and blue-headed)
1 Baby Meyers
Lots of budgies
2 Cockatiels
Approximately 2 zillion finches...all species...
Green-naped Lory
African Grey
Illiger's Macaw (a type of mini macaw)
Tucaman Amazon
Bare-eyed Cockatoo
Blue-Fronted Amazon
Jenday Conure
Pearly Conure

and.....
A LeadBeater's Cockatoo! (Major Mitchells Cockatoo)!

They are pretty rare in Canadian Aviculture, and I have only seen them once before at a zoo, so I was very interested in this little one. Her name was "Nyah" and she looked like cotton candy. lol. She was so pink and fluffy, and fuzzy too, and she looked so cuddly. But when I looked at her price tag...

SHE COST $10,000!!!!

Woooo that is A LOT! That is more than my car!!! I could have bought two Hyacinth Macaws off Kijiji for that!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek:

What's the most expensive bird in a pet store you've ever seen?

Most pet stores dont sell large parrots were I live so the most expensive I‘ve seen are Indian Ring-necked Parakeets for £170.

The normal petstores here don't see anything larger then conures. There are other places that only carry large breeds and they are mostly owned by private breeders.

I suppose now would be a bad time to brag that we could get a breeding pair of major mitchells toos for $3000. :p I think to just get a hand reared baby would be heaps less than that. I have to say they're my favourite cockatoo!

Wow insane! They are gorgeous though. I just hate seeing tiels for $399.99 for a lutino pearl one time at PetSmart, now THAT was stupid lol.

Can I ask where in Canada you are? Im in Guelph Ontario! :)

WOW, $10000!! That is one expensive bird, I think I'll stick with Cockatiels.
I wish that pet stores here had more of a greater selection birds. I mean, we rarely even have tiels, just one place nearby that sells budgies. Probably just as well actually, I would be tempted too many times.

At least you have birds in your pet store!
The closest big pet shop near us is "Pets At Home"

They used to sell birds, but are now focusing on FISH! :o They still sell toys, but don't have birds :(

Yes Scarlets are very gorgeous birds. :)

We have a lot of pet stores with birds around here.

Petsmart has like one medium-smallish large bird, plus finches, budgies, canaries, conures, quakers, cockatiels, etc. Pet Valu has no animals (except fish and mice) but it depends on the manager, I know one with birds, like budgies and cockatiels mostly, but sometimes finches, canaries, conures, quakers, poicephalus, and once an african grey. Super Pet also has a lot of birds.

This one was PJ's Pet Centre, it always has tonnes of rare birds. :)
