I got a food dehydrator for Christmas, and I wanted to know what kinds of things you guys can sugguest for me to make that my birds can have. I made some apple chips today (mostly for myself, though I can share  ) And some carrot strips.
I'm adding some of both of those to my gerbil food... and would like to add some to the tiels food too. Any other things?
I guess anything that's healthy for them fresh you could try dehydrating. :p I don't have one so i'm not really sure! I would just experiment and see what they do and don't like.
Anything that's on the safe list. I personally would love one..I'd probably do mangos all the time...

apples, banana's, pinapples, papaya, just about anything that is healthy and as already said on the safe list
i'm not sure how a dehydrator works i've never owned one and only seen deer meat put on one to make jerky (YUCK by the way)
but i know your not supposed to add any sugars, salt, etc BUT cinnoman is good for birds (its a medicine but i can't remember what it's for)

cinnamon sticks can be used as a "food toy" for parrots. Ground cinnamon can be used on soft foods as a mild anti-fungal treatment for candida and other types of yeast, and aspergillus. Cinnamon also has a mild anti-bacterial effect against strep and staph bacteria. It can be sprinkled on fresh foods in hot weather to help prevent the growth of pathogens on bird food.

Well, the apple chips are nummy! :D I LOVE apple chips. I have to watch out though, because before I know it, I"ll eat like 5 apples worth... :P
Banana chips don't really turn out so good, I don't think. They do dry, but it's NOTHING like those hard ones you get at the store. They're kinda chewy. They have WAY more flavor than the hard crunchy ones though... but the chewy-ness is kind of annoying.
Jerkey (for me, not the birds!) is tricky, but I'm getting the hang of it. Gotta find the mean the "right" thickness... otherwise forget it!
Right now all I had was cellery (i dried the leves) and apples and carrots. It's really nice, because if you've got apples that aren't "bad" yet, but they're too ripe to eat... you know, starting to wrinkle and stuff... slop them in the dehydrator, and you hardly notice a difference between those and the fresh ones!

I love chewy apple chips! Any apple chips!
I'll see if I can get some shots of some banana chips... when I get bananas. They get funny looking and brownish... and bendy. lol. I wonder if my critters will eat them like that... hum...?
Put a bit of lemon juice on the bananas so they don't brown. Mine hate bananas-the only way I ever got them to drink it was in a smoothie.
