Saying goodbye to my beautiful Avis. He wasn't even 5 months old.

Two weekends ago he developed, very quickly, a severe case of conjunctivitis. After a week on medication his problems only progressed. His eye got worse, his other eye also became infected, he developed a severe head tilt (almost holding it completely upside down), and he couldn't stop bobbing his head up and down. The vet was shocked by how quick and severe his problems had become.
This morning he was sitting at the door to his cage, waiting for me to get him out. He sat on my hand and was able to open his better eye to look at me. He chirped at me, and his head stopped bobbing, as I spoke to him.
A few hours later I had to give the vet the official "yes" to euthanize him.
The local vet school is currently performing a necropsy to hopefully find out what was wrong. Possibly a tumor? Perhaps lymphoma? The vet couldn't be sure.
I miss you Avis. You were so young, so amazing, and so loved.
