My wife and I had a female white faced cinammon cockatiel that passed away last month on the 6th of September,We think her mate killed her.We found her at the bottom of the cage with a hole in her head and blood all over her face.
They had been separated several times due to the male being aggressive,he would chase her out of her food and water bowl, and push her off the swing. He would pluck her feathers out.Since then we gave the male cockatiel back to his original owner. We found out that the male cockatiel had a mate before Katie, and when she got out of the cage and came back,he would beat her up.
unfortunately the closest vet we have is in Indianola, and we have no vehicle and have a hard time getting any one to take us any where. They ate a cockatiel seed diet from the pet store that contained very few seeds and included dried fruit, and they ate greens and veggies and some meat and they also ate cheerios. We miss Katie very much as she was a very loving bird, for some reason they both did not want to get out of their cage.We plan on getting a pair of white faced normal gray male and female cockatiels from a breeder here in Iowa that have been hand fed. These birds will have time out the cage and eat a seed and pellet diet with veggies and fruits and some meat in moderation.A cuddle bone will be included for calcium.our other two cockatiels also had a cuttle bone.We included a picture of our two cockatiels we had.I wish they had more avian vets closer to home so people wouldn't have to drive to far, some times people have to drive two to three hours to get to an avain vet and by that time the bird could die.My wife and I would like to say to every one that has lost a cockatiel or any other animal we are sorry for your loss, and it is nice to know that some day we will all be reunited with our pets in heaven. You can click on the photo and when it comes up click on it again and it will be larger.
