There was a thread on here this afternoon about a 5day old chick and problems. I had no advice but wanted to keep tabs. I can't find it now and it's as though the thread dissapeared. Does that sometimes happen?

It's still there I just went to check. I noticed when I read a thread that thread disapears until someone posts something new. Like the forum knows you just looked at it so that thread is hidden from view in case you didn't want to keep seeing it until new information comes into it then you can check it out again. Did I explain that well enough for you?

That's what happens when you've read something...the thread doesn't actually disappear, its taken off of your list of newly posted threads. All you have to do is do a general search for it and you'll be able to find it.

I find that sometimes I simply don't recognize a thread that I was looking for - I remembered the title wrong or just didn't see it or something like that. It's helpful to go to your own profile and look at all your recent posts, trying to recognize the one that you want.

It would be helpful if you would look at what section of the forum it was posted in. Then if it is not listed on recent postings then you can go to the Sub-forum and find the post. For example the post you were interested in was breeding related so it would be in the Breeding section
