About 6 weeks ago now, I set out to take down and sell my 46g bowfront tank and all the fish that were in it. I promised my mom I would do so before march break! She was happy with that (hated the big tank) so she let me setup my little 10g in my bedroom! :D

I himmed and hummed about what to get. Then I realized and remembered how much I miss GOLDFISH! It was SOLD!

For some weird reason, goldfish have to be one of my favourite fish species EVER! Mind you I have kept saltwater fish tanks in the past (and had clownfish AKA Nemo's), but I always loved Goldies. So I joined a great forum (goldfish paradise) which is dedicated to goldfish species, planned my tank, set it up with old tank water (from the 46g) and got my goldfish a few weeks later!

I love oranda's the most (they have cute little round faces, with a jelly 'brain' over their heads). I find them just toooo cute! So I got two of them, named Bubbles (the bigger one with more orange) and Ruby (the smaller one with more white)! Here are some pics of them...

All four  (hehe theres only 2, the 2 on the right are reflections)

The reason Bubbles is a male is becuase he was teeny tini white 'pimples' on his gill covers and on the edges of his pectoral and dorsal fins. You can see them on the last pic on Bubbles gill covers, and on his dorsal fin. They are much more pronounced now though. These are called 'Tubernacles' and they are a sign of male goldfish once they hit a certain size. Ruby lacks these zits so she is a female! I thought/assumed that they were both boys (before I noticed Bubbles tubernacles) so Ruby's previous name was Buddy. Sure enough... she is a female so the name changed happened! I liked the name Ruby becuase of the vacation spot Aruba which I have always wanted to do to:rolleyes: Bubbles got his name for his adorable round face and bubbly personality lol...

I hope you guys like the pics of them! The pics are about 3 weeks old now, and I have since gotten a chinese algae eater named Onyx. He is doing his job great, and is loving the tank to himself (no other algae eaters to eat HIS algae lol) ;)

Very cool and cute :D I use to have one named King when I was younger and I would open the tank and call him and he would swim up and let me pet his "brain" I like watching fish swim around :)

Hey Nathan,
I love your new fish!!! I love fish too, and I used to have a 26G tank. I actually bred some fish at the time (I had a smaller tank for the babies). Looking at your tank, makes me want to get another one, but now, I am just going to concentrate on Memphis and Maya :D

Have a terrific day!

Thanks everyone! :) I am glad you like them.

I never had orandas (becuase my parents and brother HATE them:( ) so when the tank was going to be in MY room, and be my ONLY fish tank setup, I bought them without my mom (hehe) and she hated them at first... however she got sucked into their adorable faces like I did and comes in my room a few times a day to 'make sure they aren't dead' (she has an issue and thinks all goldfish die within a few days... not these suckers though :D ) lol

I just sold my 46g bowfront and all equipment today for some $$$ to put towards my new horse, Gracie. I figured I might as well sell it now and make money while its in good shape (2 years old) than keep it in storage until Im out of college (in 3 years) then deal with it. I plan on getting back into saltwater and get more goldfish (looking at a tank now). A 180g with everything for $800... if only I had my own place id get it and pack it with more goldfish! ;) hehe. Oh well, we'll see what my future entails for me!

I love those they are so cute! I used to have one named spike that I taught to jump up out of the water like a dolphin, basically he follwed my finger. He was awesome, I was never able to teach another fish to do that, I'm not even sure how I enticed him to. He just started doing it one day. Lol!
They are gorgeous pictures!

awww, Ruby and Bubbles are so cute, i love orandas... my fave is the panda oranda (they even sound awesome!)
i have many many many tanks, but none in my new house as of yet... i have three 4foots and a 2.5foot set up at my friends, but i dont want to move them just yet, as it was not all that long ago we did their first move... luckily i live just down the street from him, so it wont be a major stress to move them here... then there are all the tanks i dismantled before moving... i have 21 4foots all up, an a whole bunch of little tanks (not quite 2foot- 10 gallon tanks)
