Enough for now. Will post more later. Should be enough to melt your hearts for now. They all are so cute! Just waiting for them to fly! In a week or so jello will take off. Jello and Bijou have started to eat seeds Although they do not shell them lol. Cute little things.

THEY ARE ADORABLE!

ps- Cricket is DEF a opaline :D I am not joking, I am 99% sure she is, she sure looks like what my baby opalines did, and I had a clutch similar to this (yf babies and normal cobalt babies from one pair, and I had opaline babies from another)...

Is this even genetically possible? i mean, wouldn't one parent have to at lease be opline to get opline babies? Pretty sure with hens it's either they are opline or they are not that that would rule out lilly. It's possible for peek to be split or if possible his recessive is hiding his opline (if thats possible haha)

More pics of cricket

Ohhh yea! Now I am FOR SURE that SHE is an opaline ;)

The reason it is possible is becuase Peek (the father) is split to opaline. Even though he is not visual, he still carries the gene apparently. Then, the reason Cricket is a she is becuase opaline (like lutino, cinnamon, e.t.c) is a sex linked mutation that fathers can visually carry off to daughters, much like some cockatiel mutations such as lutino, cinnamon, pearl, e.t.c.

- My cobalt spangle (male) and cinnamon violet recessive pied (mother) pair gave me cinnamon violet opaline babies, cinnamon spangle babies, normal cobalt babies, recessive spangle pied babies, and recessive pied babies.
- The cinnamon spangle was a male, and that is possible (even though he is cinnamon) was becuase the mother was a visual (so she carried the gene, females cannot be split to sex linked mutations) and the father was split to it as well. So that means both sexed babies can be cinnamon as BOTH parents carry it. Spangle is a dominant gene (and is not sex linked), and since the father was a spangle, in reality half the babies should be (in my case 2/5 were).
- The opaline cinnamon violet baby was a hen for sure becuase the mother was not opaline, nor was the father (visually). However he did carry the gene (hidden in his splits) from his mother (I saw his parents). So even though the bub was cinny aswell, the opaline was a dead give away that she was a lil hen
- The cobalt normal could have been either sex (ended up being female).
- The recessive spangle pied was also a female (was not guaranteed, as remember recessive pied is a recessive gene and spangle is dominant and does not get passed on from one parent or another).

I hope this lil genetics experience helped :) It sure makes me miss my lil guys, that is for sure! :(

Thanks for explaining it Nathan. I did notice she was different in that she wing color was more green blue rather then yellow like Bijou. Time will tell for sure.

Here's a vid of the babies. There is no sound even tho there was sound when i took it with ally's camera. there's even sound from it on my laptop. Not sure why it didn't upload with sound.
