I have to say they are really cute, just like little mini hamsters, they grow so fast :o like Bea with Snickers I worry about them its hard to tell if there being feed, I am sure they are because there growing but I have noticed mom is spending less time with them, I don't know if its because they are getting bigger and need her less or if she is getting tired I was watching her and she was sleeping on the opposite side of the cage from the babies and one came to find her and tried to get under her for some milk and she wouldn't let it and took off to the other side to get away I am hoping its just because she wanted a break I will keep an eye and make sure she is spending time with them still. I am taking dad out tomorrow I went out today and bought a new cage for him he doesn't seem to be doing much for them anyways he is not spending anytime with them or helping out mom so its time for him to be separated.

Thats what I am wondering Plukie, it just seems a little early they still have 10 days to go before being fully weaned unless she is doing it slowly and wants them to be more independent some are getting around good now and are really fast so I am sure having 7 of them under you can get hectic, I have been checking on them this morning and she is still not with them two of them found her and she was feeding them but I am not sure about the others, they were crying this morning for her for a few hours and she ignored them, they sure can get loud :o I will just keep an eye out and see how things progress, I don't want to step in unless I absolutely have to.

They are so cute. A few of the brown ones look like chipmunks with their markings.

If you do have to step in, what kind of milk would you get for them? Kitten formula? Hopefully you won't have to step in, I wonder why she is ignoring them.

Yes Jaime I would have to use the kitten formula milk, I am not to worried about them just yet there eyes are open and then will be 12 days old tomorrow so there chances of survival are good, there even eating the seeds one of the babies was sitting in the food dish today it was so cute  and I have given them peeled apple to keep the babies hydrated, she goes in spurts I think its because they are getting bigger and more demanding there is no way she could fit all 7 underneath her now that there so big, although they still look small to me :p sometimes I see her and she has a baby or two underneath her so its hard for me to tell if there all getting fed because there all over the place now, one baby over here, one over there you get the picture...lol

Today is day 13 and babies are doing great they seem so much older then they are, there eating out of the dish and I caught one today trying to drink from the water bottle :p I cleaned out the cage yesterday finally!! they say to wait till there 14 days old but they are doing so much and wandering all over the place I figured it was safe, mom was a little freaked out at first but she calmed down after a while I put some of the old bedding in so she would know there hers, seeing as they go by smell not sight.
I almost got it!!!

Well I am pretty experienced with baby hamsters! :D The pet shop said we have got 2 female dwarf russian hamsters, turns out the white one was a male, and the brown was female!
So then my sister was scared and shocked when she was going to play with squeek (the female) and she found 4 little pink blobs in her bed. They were so cute, 4 little baby hamsters!
We had to seperate bubble (the male) from squeek(the female) because she was battering him, because he may have eaten the babies. :o So we had to seperate them!
We kept one of the white baby hamsters and called him digger, because he was the first to come out of the bed, and he was always digging. ( hence the name )
One of the other babies went to a friend, and he is still living to this day, and the other 2 went to the pet shop.
BUT......About 6 months after, another 6 more babies came, we had put bubble and squeek back together (not a good move.) So....we had digger (one of the other babies) ... bubble and squeek and 6 MORE BABIES!!
They were all fine except from when my mum was cleaning the cage out, she had a soap dish, to scoop the saw-dust up with and put it in the bin, bit by bit, being careful not to throw a little hair ball in the bin with it.
BUT..... she wasn't careful enough...because every morning I checked on the babies and counted them, but there were only 5, not the other one to be found anywere in the cage :o
So we was thinking of were the 6th baby could be, and I suggested it may be in the bin. But my mum wouldn't believe me! :(
But I made her check in the bin bag she had put the saw-dust in from the previous night when she cleaned them. AND............................................ there he was at the bottom of the bin bag, small, cold and shaking. My mum was rubbing him to keep him warm, he was ice cold, me and my sister were crying because he had been in the bag alone all night. But he began to move, so we put him in the bed with his mum, but she got him by the neck and buried him under the saw-dust, she thought he was dead. So we got him and put him back in the bed with her again, and this time he got some milk, :) to get stronger, he must have been so hungry. He was much smaller than the other 5.
My mum insisted on keeping him, so we called him Wheelie, because he had been in a bin-bag, in the wheelie bin ( rubbish bin ) all night! :)
SADLY..... Squeek (the mum) passed away in Febuary, Digger passed away last year! R.I.P !!
HAPPILY....Bubble ( the dad ) is still alive, about 3 years old ( old for a hamster) and Wheelie is still alive aswell! :D:D:D
SORRY FOR THE EXTRA LONG POST! lol
Thanks Sophia x
