Ruby our rabbit is going through the nest building stage. She is gathering up hay and taking it to build her nest for her "babies". Now, she is an only rabbit, no male contact whatsoever, so we know that she isn't going to have babies, but poor Ruby is going to go through a phantom pregnancy. I'll try and get photos of her with her mouth full of hay.

Now she has started fur plucking, poor thing. She will have to go through this one and then we will get her speyed, so that she doesn't have to go through any more.

Cookies neutered. I'd love to get cookie a girlfriend but that's not going to happen any time soon lol. Getting her spayed is a good thing. Can increase her life span and less risk of getting a type of cancer.

Yeah, that's what we intend to do. We have kept rabbits for around 11 years and gradually they all left us of old age. We said we weren't going to get any more, but then we saw Ruby and just couldn't resist her. Our last two rabbits were Pepper and Angel, Pepper had to have an eye removed when she was just a baby because she got a parasite in it from when she was in the womb. She was lovely, she lived for five years and then had to go for an operation and died under the anaesthetic. The last one was Angel, she had been through so many illnesses and operations, that we couldn't put her through that one more to have her spayed and consequentially she got ovarian cancer and died aged 7. So, yes, we fully intend to get Ruby spayed, she is 9 months old now, so once she has finished with this phantom pregnancy, we will take her in to get her done.

Aww sweet girl. Cookies 2 now. Hoping he lives another good few years. He's never been sick. Besides the time he re homed him (bad choice, hurt like hell but we thought it was best but we were so wrong) and he came home dirty and has stuff off over his tail. Not sure if it was him sick or it was the person not taking care of him. Either way he is one happy bunny. Hoping Him getting neutered will be his only surgery needed.
I'd love to get him a floppy ear friend ( mini lop of some type) but really type of rabbit doesn't matter as long as it's not to much bigger then him.
How did ruby do with shedding. I thought i was going to die! One day i saw cookie looks kinda scruffy so the thought one of his kitten friend may have decided not to be friends (kittens weren't around him when we could not watch them. They never really care about each other) so i took him up and poof! That day i must of gently took off a full rabbit of fur. For 3 days i was able to get like a pillow of fur from him. Now he is some good looking. back to his normal blackish color rather then the odd dark brown winter coat.

Oh the moulting was just terrible, I was brushing here every day, but it seems to have stopped now, I haven't had to brush her in a few days, now she's pulling it out and made a lovely nest, she's lying in it exhausted at the moment, but once she is out, I'll try and get a photo of it. I've got a photo and video clip of her nest building, I'll get them sorted and put them up here soon.
