Ive been wanting to get some fish for a little while now nut dont no were to start or what I would need for them :blush:Im not thinking of getting any until my birthday so I have a little while yet so I can clue myself up on whats the best care and type and tank size.
I no a few of you have fish and are members of some clubs what sort of fish would you recamend ? I would like to no what fish work well together and what sarroundings work best in there cage.Like plants, rocks, coral, ornaments that sort of thing and of coarse I have kids so what would work best with them as im sure I heard somewere that some fish dont like noise (or maybe that was another animal or someone told me that when I was little so I would be quiet lol I dunno)
any info would be great :D so I atleast no what im doing I dont want it to be like someone getting a tiel without perches or toys in there cage lol it might sound silly but I dont want to forget something that might come as common sense to someone else lol:p

ok with the size of tank depends on what fish you get as the saying with bird cages the bigger the better guppies are good but breed constantly after 1 mating they can have 3 broods of fry =babies you need to read up on cycling the tank when to add fish when not to what fish to have during a cycle i,ll get some links for you to research

Its been awhile since I have had fish, I love watching them there is something so peaceful for me watching fish swim around, I had a 20g and my personal favourite of the fish is the tetra, they are a schooling fish its best to keep them 5 or more, they are a small hardy fish but they need to be kept with fish there size the neon are amazingly beautiful in a tank.

Ok well that makes things a little easyer. Im so glad I have chossen to research getting fish instead of just going and getting any old thing and putting them in a tank hoping for the best and ending up with dead fish or ones that just wouldnt get along and are in a small tank I would never forgive my self

hi, I used to keep and breed a lot of different types of tropical fish ranging from live bearers like platys, mollies, guppies to bubblenest builders like gouramis then onto larger cichlids such as oscars and jack dempseys. They all have their own appeal and it depends what you want ie a nice community tank with various types which can house a few bottom feeders like the clown loach and small plecostomus(which are good for cleaning algae off the sides) to mid-water swimmers like the various gouramis , barbs, and danios then upto the top-water swimmers like the guppies. It can take months for a new filter to mature with the right balance of bacteria etc for efficient cleaning of the water so thats a good idea to use some gunk from a used filter. Sorry im waffling a bit but if you want a fish with character and one you can interact with then try an oscar, they grow big but mine used to regularly feed from my hand and can be taught tricks like ringing a bell to be fed :D Whatever you choose good luck, used to sit for hours watching them its so peaceful.
