View Full Version : My mom's store was robbed
I'm a little shook up right now. My mom works overnight at this grocery/department store- they are open 24hrs. There have been alot of robberies lately, most at popular stores like Walgreens, Walmart, Target, Cvs...She told me tonight three men came in and robbed the store with guns. The idiots took 5 plasma tvs and scared the hell out of everyone. Noane was hurt though. They were parked in front of the store and went back in after taking the tv's out and shot fire in the air and threatened to kill everyone if they try anything. My mom said she was really scared-that everything happened really fast. I'm always worried about her working nights and now this...:( The store is now closed to customers and they are locked in-atleast until daytime..She leaves in the morning but it's still dark out when she gets off...I'm worried.
*hugs* How scary for you and for your mum. I'm glad no one was hurt and i hope the robbers can be identified via security tape footage and caught. I would think after a robbery like that there would be cops around and your mum won't be in any danger leaving in the morning. The robbers wouldn't want to hang around the area anyway...
Yeah, she said there are cops everywhere and they locked them in the store- I think by the time she leaves it'll settle down. I couldn't believe it when she told me. They do have security cameras so I am sure they got their picture-it's just so crazy that they would walk in the middle of a store and just start shooting for some stupid tv's! No masks, nothing. I really hope they get caught fast! It happen around 1am our time so I'm thinking it'll be on the morning news for sure. I can't really sleep so I think I'll be up till she gets home. Their parking lot is so dark too- she was just telling me earlier this week that she hates parking so far from the store because all the lights are out..sorry...I'm blabbing..just freaking out a little..it's my mommy!
I would be freaking out too, it's understandable! Let us know hoe things progress...

Wow, that must have been really scary for all concerned. I hope by now your mum is home safe and sound with you.

Thanks. It was on the news this morning...:( She's ok-got home fine. Not with me though:rolleyes: at her house. I just hope they catch those idiots. What do you need 5 tv's so bad for that you would hold up a store! I guess these people never heard of jobs..

Steal them, sell them, buy drugs with the money...

Aly I am so sorry this happened to your mom, I know what a scary experience it is, I have been there I don't talk about it much because it brings up bad memories but I know what she is going through I worked at a variety store many years ago before I got married and had kids I was working one afternoon yes it was the middle of the day and a guy came in wearing a long black trench coat and went down to the bottom of the store where the pop and chips are, he was taking a little to long waiting for customers to leave and I just knew something wasn't right after everyone left I was watching him come towards me I was all alone his hand went into his coat and I watched him slowly pull out the gun and my heart just dropped he pointed it right at me and asked me for the money and just like you see on t.v I had trouble getting the cash register open I was so scared, finally got it open gave him the money and he was not happy there wasn't much in there as I just started my shift shortly before, he finally left but its stayed with me all these years, nothing like having a gun right in your face he was actually caught that night it was a big man hunt because he pulled a gun on me cops everywhere but they got him of course my story doesn't end there I had to go to court to testify and that was just horrible sitting up there with him staring at me and outside the courtroom his family was walking around giving me dirty looks trying to intimidate me it was pretty bad, he was convicted ended up going to jail and died there I think from a drug overdose I never really got the whole story after that I just filed it away and tried to forget about it, it was very sad two lives forever changed over less then 50.00 dollars.
Steal them, sell them, buy drugs with the money...
And then sell drugs to kids...ridiculous.
Oh Laura...I'm sorry...People are suck idiots. I'm glad you never have to see him again and I'm glad you're safe. There have been so many robberies around here lately I don't even know what to think. Karma will get them all though.

You know what its the best thing for her to go back, I was so tempted to NEVER go back, I didn't take anytime off which everyone told me to do I was afraid if I did I wouldn't return and I wasn't about to let some goof get the better of me, but let me tell you it was the hardest thing to do because I was all alone working for months after the robbery everytime a man came into the store my heart would pound and I would pick up the phone like I was calling someone don't ask me what that was going to do, wouldn't help me if I got robbed again but I guess it was just my way of dealing with it.

i must agree with laurago as i went back and it was better then not to
Her way of dealing with it is ignoring it...I tried to ask her about it and she kind of blew it off as nothing. I'm sure she'll be ok, like you and Allen are. All these idiots with guns out there..like I always say- guns don't kill people- people kill people.
I find it shocking that there are three people linked to the forum who have experienced this. Is it easy to get a gun in America? Most people here just don't have access to them.

Most people here in Canada don't have access to them either Bea, its very hard to get a gun here, I don't know how he was able to get one

Oh yeah! Esspecially Florida... It's really sad to see KIDS just entering highschool thinking they are gansta's and are living the life. There are alot of illegal guns around here. The laws are pretty stupid too. Just the other day the county sheriff (boss of ALL cops here) got arrested and charged for money laundering, not reporting crimes accuretly, accepting bribes....etc...:( We've had a chain of pharmacy store (walgreens, cvs) robberies going from south and working their way north, three cops were shot dead with military weapons by thugs in the last months...sad really really sad.
