We kept him low to the ground when we took him out to play and when we realized that he could not fly at all, and saw him holding his wing up at a weird angle, we took him to the vet within the hour. It turns out he had broken a lot of feathers during his night fright and the vet noticed his wing seemed to be tender. His feathers were stuck together with coagulated blood and the vet had to soak him. They prescribed 3 ml of anti-inflammatory fluid in a syringe daily for the next 5-7 days. We've had him for two weeks and had been going at his pace ( we had just achieved him eating corn while sitting on our hands), so it was quite a shock the first time that he had ever been held in a towel. Then today I had to babysit a 7 year old boy who was very rambunctious and kept the bird on edge so now he seems very stressed out. I also have to give him the syringe of anti-inflammatory meds every day, and he'll probably have to be held in a towel for that. Any advice on making this time less unpleasant for him:confused:?

aww sorry to hear cheeko is sore , but glad it's nothing too serious , once those feathers grow back in he'll be flying around again :)
I'm not real sure on how to make it go smoother for his meds, I've never had to give meds to any of my birds yet
but I'd say alot of comforting words (and the tone of voice as well), and then when he's done taking his meds, tell him he how he was such a good and give him a treat :-) (even if he was a bit fiesty) but it should show him well if i take my meds I get something good afterwards (it works on my kids I hope it'll work on Cheeko as well)
the birds are smarter then we give them credit for :)
Hope he gets feeling better soon :)

That's very good advice. I especially liked the part about towelling the bird on occasion and giving them warm baby food so that they associate being towelled with something pleasant. Very good!
