View Full Version : Just need some advice...
Ok...so I know many of you don't know that much about me but I recently (about a month ago):) got up and quit my job in corporate America. I didn't want to die of a heart attack at the age of 23 and I was HATING going to work more then usually normal.:o So I left and I've been living off savings. I really don't have any "school" or money to got to school. I'd love to be avet, but that's not happening in this lifetime. So, today my mother suggested photography. Is there any place I can acctually sell my photos or work in the field? I'm just confused and needing some suggestions?
Oh good, so it's normal to be confused about what to do with your life? :p
I think photography can be profitable, but it would probably cost a bit to get started with all the pro-equipment. I've had people tell me i should try to offer pet photography as a small way to get money, but i would feel a little dodgy not having a big DSLR camera and gear and then selling the results (no matter how good). It's probably worth looking into though. My mums friend did a little course at TAFE and now she does photography professionally.
Oh good, so it's normal to be confused about what to do with your life? :p
OH YES! Atleast normal for me..hehe
I'm just lost- I'm tired of working for people, lying, being money hungry and fake, kissing ...... I couldn't do it anymore. Office jobs are not for me- I was good while it lasted but I'm done and I don't want to go into the same field again...
I think you should pursue photography as well. You're really good and I do steal some of your photo ideas sometimes..hehe:p

I think of of the best ways to get into photography would be to make up some fliers or even your own bussiness cards( must cheaper that way) and take some pictures at weddings, graduations, birthday parties, etc Get your foot in the door then build from there call around to your local phtographers and see how much the going charge is for that type of bussiness so you'll know how much to charge so you'll know the going rate

Mabey you could freelance for a local newspaper. I would also buy alot of photography books to study. you would need a dslr as well mabey a flash ect. I work in a photo studio and I really like it. I did my Brothers wedding and he was really happy with the photos. Photograhy can be really hard too sometimes ( think angry 2 year olds) the list could go on and on but I enjoy it. Good luck in figuring out what to do. Keep us updated.
Thanks everyone. I sent sent my profile to Corbis so hopefully I hear something back. If not, I'll keep trying...
