when our babies come out we move all the dishes down Or add others and have them close to the ground so they can start exploring the food and nibbling on it

Make sure the cage floors are cleaned more often because they will nibble on all they find

mine usually come out during the day but for the 1st week or so will go back in the nest at night to sleep

I also put a ladder up against the opening of the next box so they babies can come and go as they please or put a perch near it so they can reach it from the floor and be able to get up in the nest box with ease

When my Snickers came out i would leave him out all day and put him back in the nest over night. He got exhausted perching all day. I also put a turned up ice cream container on the cage floor with a hole cut into the side so he could get in, it was like a little igloo for him to go and lie down in. :)

When my chicks fledged they spent the first day or two mostly on the floor of the cage. I put newspapers on top of the grate to give them a solid surface to walk on.

Having the chicks on the floor really confused the parents - they wanted to feed them but couldn't seem to figure out how to go about it. So I put the chicks back in the nest periodically throughout the day to make sure they got fed. They'd come back out again when they were ready. I put them back at night too for at least a day or two - I thought they'd be more comfortable there since they weren't very good at perching and they'd be all exposed and alone on the cage floor.

The chicks start learning to feed themselves after they leave the nest. My chicks learned to forage a lot faster than they learned to eat from a cup. So hang up some food for them to nibble on (like veggies and millet spray) and spread food out on a flat surface so they can pick it up off the 'ground'.
