Maybe I should do a bit more of a proper introduction.
I have two cockatiels, Spooki a whiteface pearl female, and Squeek a whiteface cinamon male. Both are around 7/8 months old. Squeek has only just recently joined our family, I have had Spooki for around 5 months now.
My first cockatiel was Chicken, who I got from a friend around 4 years ago, who had a few in an avairy that bred of their own accord. She (who we later found out that she was a he) was a normal grey and had been with us from when she left the nest and was eating by herself, so was very tame and bonded to us. Recently she passed away, and both DP and myself were very upset by it, it was amasing how big a hole one little bird could leave. We both aggreed that we wanted to get another male, and also that it would be good to have a companion for Spooki as although her and Chicken were not close companions (I think Chicken refused to admit that she was not human, and a princess at that) it was obvious that she was missing her, constantly looking to where her cage used to be and calling out without getting any response.
So off we went to look at getting a new tiel for our family, just thinking we would have a look and get an idea of the differing personalities, because there was no way we would get a replacement Chicken, she was one of a kind. In one avairy was this pretty whitefaced cinamon and as soon as we walked up to the cage he started to wolf whistle and sing to us, we watched the others and laughed at their antics (its just getting into spring here and breeding seson) some whistling into who's ever ear they could get near. But this little one had won our hearts, he seemed to have a very gentle nature about him, and so he came home with us. On the drive home he would let out little squeeks, as if to say, "hello, is any one there?"
Now he is in love with Spooki, we have heart wings and a bit of head bobbing, and heaven forbid if we try to take his girlfriend away. Like when they go outside or come in for the evening, and they are separated for 30seconds that it takes to get one cage inside then the other, then the screeching starts untill they are back together. then it is little nice sqeeks and they both get into the closest corners of their cages to be as close to the other as possible.
Yesterday afternoon we had a light shower so I put their cages half in the rain and they loved it, Squeek almost rolling around on the bottom of his cage turning himself inside out.
