I'm hopeless but I'm trying to figure out the mutations. The closest picture I could find of my pretty girl here

was a white face normal gray. So how far off base am I or am I? I've been reading so much and trying to get this but it's just not feeling as if it's sinking in.

She looks like a whiteface normal grey to me. Of course it's usually easier to judge colors in person - do you think there's any chance she's cinnamon?

Looks to be a whiteface pearl but the only thing is that the pearl markings are faded which could mean its a male!! Well does she/he whistle alot or sing? I think you have a male there and how old is it? Melissa & The Flock

It is a Whiteface female but those little speckles are a common marking on some normally marked birds. I've seen it on several mutations. Gray, Cinnamon and Whiteface. I've always loved it. She's very pretty!

tielfan She's a very light greyish silvery color. I'm assuming that cinnamon would have a brownish tint. I could very easily be wrong there as I am just beginning to try to understand the mutations and I'm a bit muddled.
xxxspikexxx Thanks. I do think she's a real beauty.
crazy4tiels88 She has one egg already and looks as if she's about to lay more. She is approximately 3 1/2 years old. She has a lightly dotted front and rump and lightly stripped legs. The eggs are most likely not fertile as her cage mate, Ricky, is a 1 1/2 year old pearl. I'm 95% certain the pearl is a she. We just adopted them so please forgive my vagueness.
sweetrsue Thanks. I'm feeling a bit more hopeful that I just might be catching on to the mutations.

Yes you are right Cinnamon would have a tan cast to it. You can candle the egg at 5 days to see if it's fertile. Hold it up to a small flashlight in a dark room and if it's fertile you should see little red veins. But I really think you have two hen there. You can slow down her urge to lay by making sure they get at least 12 hours of night and quiet. It would be harmful for her to continue to lay so remove the nest box offer fewer greens.
If you take the egg away from her it will likely trigger her to lay more to replace the lost egg. Let her sit on it 'till she's tired of it.

The one egg that she has at the moment is probably a dud regardless due to the fact that it is stone cold and she has completely ignored it since getting here. She does have the look of being about to lay more. I think she is just determined to be a mom and keeps laying as this wasn't the first time she has done so according to her previous owner. I only put the nest box in just in case and if she pulls the same routine with the next then I will definitely jerk it right out and put her to a good rest. She and the pearl are just very attached to each other. I haven't seen any mating but then I probably wouldn't since she is laying. Again I could be very wrong but I'm taking a guess there. *hoping for 2 hens*

They can actually remain cold for the first few days after laying. Many experienced hens don't start sitting 'till they have 2 or 3 so that they all hatch at the same time. They won't start to develop 'till the hen starts sitting.

Unfortunately when we went to get her she had already started sitting on the egg and was a super protective mommy. I felt so bad having to move her but giving her living conditions (no source of calcium, no real food such as greens, the wrong seed and the fact that she was sitting on the egg on the bottom of the cage anyway) I didn't think we should try to wait. I have to admit that I'll be a bit relieved if they are duds anyway. Not that I don't think that I could handle the situation if there were babies but it will make her transition easier and of course bonding with her.

JoJo is very pretty. I'll keep my fingers crossed that soon you will know if he is indeed a he or she. I know it's killing me with my little one's.

Sounds like you've done a lot of research into her proper care. I have no doubt that all your birds will be well treated and be well cared for. You probably are more prepared than you think.

Thanks sweetrsue I hope I am prepared enough. I'm just a nervous nut about things until I actually do them for a while. Honestly I think my feathered babies make me more nervous than my first child did.
