I just started giving flax seed to my tiels!!

Flax seed is good for you and you tiels and it has essential omega 3 fatty acids that the tiels need, I started giving it to them last night but only give about 1 teaspoon of it a day per tiel it will help their feathers and skin also its good for the wintertime esspecially if you have aviarys as this will keep their fat up and it has been used to kill breast cancer cells they say, and its used for alot of stuff!! I have it in my Cockatiel seed mix.

I been puting it in my Tiel mix for years, its kinda good for them plus they seem to gobble it up...be happy.

My tiels don't like flax seed and leave it in the bowl. But I put a few drops of flax oil on their sprouts every other day so they're still getting it.

Wow, I am learning heaps already....:o So is this flax seed available at supermarkets?

I don't know about supermarkets, but a lot of whole-foods groceries have it in their bulk bins section. The whole-foods stores are also where you can buy bottles of flax oil if you prefer it. The oil MUST be refrigerated or it will go rancid.
