Peas, Lentils, Barley and Groats

I went shopping for veggies for the birds yesterday and could only find a 4 in 1 bean mix. It contains peas, barley, lentils and groats. how safe is this for them? can i use them after cooking without worrying that they'll make them sick? and what exactly are groats?

Groats are oats. There's nothing in there that could harm them. I usually buy separate bags of the kind of beans I want. I find them for less than $1. and can put what I want in it.
