I finally figured out the genes to my old cockatiel pair!

After playing with the cockatiel genetic calculator I finally discovered exactly what my cockatiels', Kisses and Buttercup, genes are. I finally got all the mutations of their chicks. I feel so relieved! I have also discovered that Meatball isn't even their chick! He is the son of my male lutino, Chikee. Chikee mated with Pumpkin and she laid eggs on the bottom of the cage the same time Kisses and Buttercup were nesting. We put the eggs in the nest box.. but we removed a few when we found some were infertile. I assumed that the infertile one's were Chikee's and Pumpkin's. I guess I was wrong. My mom was right. She is in love with Chikee and keeps trying to convince me to give him to her (yeah right *rolls eyes*). I have decided to give her Meatball though.. which makes it even better since they are related!

Father:Pied Whiteface Pearl Split To {X1: Cinnamon} {X2: Lutino}

male offspring:
25% Pied Whiteface Cinnamon Split To {X1: Pearl}
25% Pied Whiteface Split To {X1: Lutino Pearl} {X2: Cinnamon}
25% Pied Cinnamon Split To Whiteface {X1: Pearl}
25% Pied Split To Whiteface {X1: Lutino Pearl} {X2: Cinnamon}

female offspring:
25% Pied Whiteface Cinnamon Pearl
25% Pied Whiteface Lutino Pearl (i'm assuming that only the "albino" shows")
25% Pied Cinnamon Pearl Split To Whiteface
25% Pied Lutino Pearl Split To Whiteface

That is the only combination I could find that produced all the chicks they had. I have been working on this for so long.

Now when I do decide to continue breeding I'm going to know exactly what I get out of them. I'm so excited. :D
I hope this stuff is somewhat accurate. Genetics are so confusing. I'll probably have to do more research into it.

its pretty Darn accurate, it has been right on every pair of tiels i Used it on :)

i use it for Future Pairings of birds I don't even have - But I know what mutations I want to have, So i use it to figure out what the mom and dad need to be to get the specific mutations I want

I just wish they had a Budgie & Lovebird one that was as easy and simple to use and understand

Look like reverse engineering! Must have been hard to try to work it backwards. I wonder if they showed you all the genes they carry?

That is actually exactly what I used. I'm probably more excited about this than I should be. I'm going to be using this thing for a while.. or at least I can get every fact into my head (which will probably take years of breeding).
I definitely plan on breeding their chicks too, but I need to find their perfect mates. This thing will help me find exactly what I'm looking for.

while i'm playing around on that site, using either birds I already have or a bird i have with a mutation I want , I've gotten some off the wall mutations I've never seen or heard of before :D So of course that becomes my new goal in life , that web site can getcha in just as much trouble as sitting on the forum all day does LOL

but its fun and I learn new things i also pair it up with this website (for pictures)
