Are Cinnamon Sticks safe

for our birds. I don't see it on any lists I have seen and thought I would ask the forum. I was thinking about adding one to a toy I made. Is there anything to check for? It is the cinnamon sticks you would put in beverages as stir sticks.

Yes I have them hanging in mine, they make great things for their beaks, Gives them Great breath and it is also a medical benefit

CINNAMON sticks can be used as a "food toy" for parrots. Ground cinnamon can be used on soft foods as a mild anti-fungal treatment for candida and other types of yeast, and aspergillus. Cinnamon also has a mild anti-bacterial effect against strep and staph bacteria. It can be sprinkled on fresh foods in hot weather to help prevent the growth of pathogens on bird food.

Interesting info. I did try getting my birds to chew on cinnamon sticks, but they just weren't into it; but now I'll try grating it onto their food instead.

I just hang mine in the cage, Sometimes near their cuttle bone other times just any where I think is a good spot, they don't go to it every single day but i've seen them go to it several times since i put it up - and that has been a while

I need to get some more to add to my other cages

I recently bought one cinnamon stick from my local bulk food store.... and clipped it to Jack's cage. Thus far he has not chewed it, but he perches on it all the time. I figure as long as it's being used, i can't complain. lol. Cost me like 10 cents too lol. So who's complaining?

I do sometimes toss a pinch of cinnamon powder on his fresh mash and he goes crazy for it! And he smells great too! I just want to kiss him like crazy! lol!
