I Bought a hand fed baby a week ago. The lady said not to introduce any fresh foods to him for another month because he might get sick from the bacteria in the the food, she said that he still has a week immune system. I was wondering if this is true.
He was born on November 24 2008. He has become 100% sweet. He bit me really hard a couple of times and now we are the best of friends. He already likes to ride around on my shoulder and today he let me scritch his head for a very long time.
I was just wondering if anyone knows if the food thing is true. I want to give him some greens and beak appetite but I'm scared.

If he was hand fed from hatching he/she may not have gotten enough of the beneficial bacteria from being being parent fed. I think as long as the foods you chose to feed the baby is free of bacteria you can do it. I'm sure you can get away with beak appetite. Even Dried beans soaked and cooked would be a good choice for baby and you can sprinkle it with ornabac or benebac (beneficial bacteria) just to be sure he/she gets some. Greens can cause a very young baby to have loose stools and it is very hard to wash them properly.

Wash your greens really well, using a lot of water to rinse them. This is a good way to physically remove bacteria. You can also add a little ACV (apple cider vinegar) or GSE (grape seed extract) to standing water and let the greens soak for a while to help kill bacteria, rinsing afterward. GSE kills more bacteria than ACV, but I prefer the ACV myself because GSE is a little TOO good at killing bacteria - they say it can kill the beneficial bacteria in the gut. So if you use GSE make sure to rinse the greens a little extra well.

So, when can I start experimenting with everything? He's 10 weeks.

My chicks started nibbling on greens before they were even weaned. If he's healthy and your greens are squeaky clean, he can start eating them now.

Also remove any uneaten food within two hours, I think it is great to introduce Baby to new foods as an all seed diet is not healthy :)
Veggies are often the first things my babies try (because they're soft) from as early as 4 weeks old. :) I wouldn't be too worried, at 10 weeks he should be able to eat whatever healthy foods you want to offer him.
