View Full Version : SO sore...
Ok this has nothing to do with tiels but still-I thought I should tell you... So I decided to go on a diet (3 years at a desk job got to me):o and excersise more...so yesterday I went on a rampage and went walking/jogging in the morning and in the evening and then went swimming laps for about half an hour-I did it again this morning. I am SO sore it's not even funny. I never realized how out of shape I really was. It feels good to know it's working though. Going to swim more laps right now..lol...later!
LOL!!! Awww, you'll get used to the exercise soon and it won't kill you everytime. :p My first day back at school after holidays always gets me with the walking, my legs get all achey. Same with horse riding, if i don't ride during the summer holidays then my legs and butt are dead after my first lesson back.
It turns out swimming laps burns so much more so I think I'll focus on that- it's much easier on me and I like it alot better then walking.I've always been a water baby.
I'm going to start swimming with my mum soon. She's been losing weight this year, and has gone from 117kg to about 70kg. :D We're all so proud of her.
For all you people who talk in lbs, that's 258lbs to 154lbs. And for the record i officially hate talking in lbs, they make me sound so heavy. :p

It does sound like alot more. I grew up on kg's too but then when we moved here....everything is in lbs. How did your mom do it?
Eating well and lots of hard work outs at the gym. She's only a few kgs away from her goal weight now.
Good to hear- trying to do the same here. I can't believe I let myself slip.

Good luck Aly swimming is a great form of exercise I don't do it nearly enough but I am not a huge fan of the water my aunt goes swimming everyday faithfully she loves it and has helped her alot, I prefer walking myself I love it I have to get william to and from school so I get to walk everyday it works out well and gets me exercising a little.
Bea thats great about your mom good for her :D I really wish my mom would do that she needs to lose alot of weight it has affected her health and she walks with a cane she is so unhealthy and has been for many many years.
I think the older you are the harder it is on the body and the harder it is to fix.

oh I agree with you...LOL but unfortunately she has been this way a LONG time and doctors have told her she needs to lose weight for her health but she never sticks with it.
sorry Laura...I'm pretty sure she's set in her ways by now...
It's never too late to get healthy! My mum has dieted on and off for as long as i can remember. So many times she's done really well and just given up and put on more than what she started as. :( What really did it for her this time is that she started off in a Biggest Loser Competition run by her gym. She is SUPER competitive and loves to be the centre of attention and get loads of praise, so she was trying like crazy to win the competion (which she did, she won the state prize). By the time the 12 week long competition was over her eating and exercise plan had become habit and she's been able to keep it going. I guess it's finding some good motivation that's the key. ;)

I am with you Bea your never to old to get healthy, I know its hard and she is set in her ways but I don't know why you would want to live like that she is only 58 and can barely get around my father in law is 83 and can run circles around her and probably me...lol he walks everyday and is so active, its to the point she can't lift anything can't clean her apartment do her laundry etc... she does work but its a struggle for her to get around its sad that it has come to this point when she was told many years ago she needed to lose at least 150 pounds or she was heading for trouble.
It's hard to make that first step. I tried a bunch of stuff and always gave up because I didn't see results fast enough. I have my motivation now and this is acctually working so no giving up this time. It took a picture for me to see...
