Everyone has said my new tiel is a *pied*. What exactly does that mean and can you show me what a male and female adult will look like?

There are pictures of pieds in that thread. :)
Males and females generally look alike and aren't as easy to sex as normal gray 'tiels.

Pied more or less means their markings are scatteed not uniform, and no one pied is the same as the other They're like snowflakes ;) also both male and female look the same

here are a few of mine

This is Nibbles -

she is on the right with her head down

About the only thing I noticed with my young ones as they molted they got a bit brighter, but other then that, their over all appearance didn't change at all their markings always were in the same spots. same sizes, just a bit brighter

So is Quinn in my signature picture. Pieds come with different degrees of 'piedness'; clear pieds (like Quinn) are at least 98% pied, heavy pieds are 75% pied or higher, light pieds are 25% pied or less. The remaining percentage refers to their body colour.

Basically, all pieds are very unique!

Spike is a pied and his face got a tiny bit more brighter yellow as he got older :)
