Which commercial brand of seed to you use as part of a well-rounded diet?

Thanks

I don't know a brand name but, I would try for something with the least amount of sunflower seeds (they are VERY fattening). Seeds can be fatty and have very little nutritional value if only offered alone (that is where pellets and veggies come into place :)).

Mine don't get much seeds But when they do , we get it from a distrubtor of zupreem, they make up thier own seed mixes though but it is healthier when you do it your self, that way you know exactly how much sunflower seeds are in it (if you choose to put any at all) and you can choose what seeds you want in it.

looks like this

They were really fussy and would only eat tiny bits of it. I'd go to change the food dish and find they had only been eating a bit of it, and there was a ton of seed left over, which would just go to waste, so it was then I changed to Whistlers and they've been fine with it ever since! I do mix in another seed mix with it though, so maybe there was something more interesting/yummy in it, lol. I don't know, but all my 'tiels are so fussy.

I use my own mix which i have for years and the birds seem to eat it good, i put sunflower seeds in it as well and have for 35 yrs but its up to you, I mix peanuts in as well as a little dehydrated fruit. We offer veggies 2-3 times a week and we also spray our birdsa couple times a week in the summer time and about 1-2 times in the winter. with 50% water and 50% Aloe which i buy at walmart for about $10.00 a gallon. Thats the basics but we offer Pasta and finely chopped veggies as well as cereal there favorite being multi grain cheerios. the link below is my free page but a long way from done but will show you the seed mix i use, just for information so...be happy :)

I use Volkman. They have several different grades of seed. I buy one that has Sunflower and one that doesn't and mix them. They I also add more flax seed. I feed beans and rice pasta and shredded carrots. Boc choy and Zupreem fruit blend pellets. Thay actually don't get much seed but they do get some. Millet of course about once a week.

I feed mine Bird Munchies cockatiel mix. I use cheap bulk parrot seed (the kind that you find in pet shops and supermarkets) for sprouting. I sometimes add in linseeds and split lentils, or some wholegrain bread.

I also offer veggies, pellets, dried spicy tomato flavoured chickpeas, pasta and rice.
