View Full Version : Why must my birds confuse me so much

this is short, and most of it is at the very start - SORRY about all the birds in the background I wish I knew how to tune them out and just focus ON her! but I don't

My females are Quiet, I honestly do not know what a "normal" female chirp is. The only time they make a sound is when their cage mate escapes then its the loud ear piercing contact calls OR when you're handling one who doesn't like to be touched, then it's the loud screaming BUT that sounds identical to the boys who doesn't like to be handled! So that's no help

So here I am - This Pearl is 7 months old! I do NOT see any pearls disappearing, but that doesn't mean it's not. I'm just not seeing it lol

When Pooh started loosing his pearls, they were just about fully gone before it dawned on me he was losing them ( i really think it is because I'm around them every single day all day

so what's the general thought here

Male or Female?

P.S. I forgot to mention other then the flock calling when her cage mates escaped or screaming when she was being handled this bird has NEVER made a single sound !(same way with Sadie) Even when i talk to them they don't chirp or nothing they will cock their head occasionally or run away that's about it at one time I thought I had a hand full of Mute birds.

My female Jasmine sometimes chirps all on her own. She makes these funny little squeeky sounds and sometimes it turns into a little song. She doesn't do it very often but it sort of sound like the sounds yours is making in the video. My other girl Marilyn only makes longer set of sound when she is annoyed with you and wants to get away. I think it's her little bitch fit, lol. Other than that I have no experience so I can't tell you for sure.

thats really hard....part of me says female but the fact its more of a tune leans towards male.....the only difference is there is no whistling.....comet who is just over 3 months makes those kidna sounds but wolf whistles too.....but then celeste does sometimes make more of a tune out of her sounds....thinking about it it kinda sounds like a call little kimmie does but she does it alot louder and more like a flock call...basically...i dunnO!

Just by going by what I have learned and what I experience with Maya, I would think that it sounds male. He almost has a short little tune going. Maya just squacks, no tunes, not even chirping...(unless she is getting some....lol), but that is it. i think yours is a male.

I wish I could describe the noise my girls make. All four of them make exactly the same call and Harley and Flash (the boys) sound nothing like them. Quinn's the only one who makes more than just the one noise and she's the only one whose gender is in question.

I think pieds mutated just to drive humans nuts.

The noise in that video sounds exactly like the noise my girls make.

I think you have a bunch of sneaky boys pretending to be girls, so they can live in the girl cage :p
