I was wondering if it was possible for an average grey male to have a darker face; not all yellow?

I wouldn't say solid. Baby has quite alot of yellow for a girl around her cheeks and beak.

Here is a picture of the bird in question, the picture may not come out well because I took it with my cell phone:

I don't have a problem with females, I just didn't want the hassel of breeding because my Jackson is a boy and I plan on them sharing a large cage.

The age would be helpful! Males will lose those gray feathers that cover their yellow masks as youngsters and they will be replaced by the yellow mask from about 5 months of age. The process can take several months to complete. If your baby is over 6 months I would say it's a girl.

Iam thinking you have a girl, how old is she? My first thought was that a pied could be very light (not alot of yellow/cream) and have more grey on their face but now that I see your photo your tiel just looks like a normal grey tiel to me, a very cute one though :)

Still too soon to be sure then if it's male or female. They all look alike at that age!

Looks kinda like a female Am! Great luck that would be huh? :D Oh well. He/she is a cutie!! I can't wait to come over and see in person. I guess it's probably too early to tell yet. I'm in the same boat. Maybe you'll be able to tell soon if it starts to vocalise a lot. :)

Jackson was around three months as well. Funny thing. I was so worried about the new bird (who I named Darwin) being a girl......hes not a girl. The funny part is the Jackson is a girl, lol. I guess its hard fr even the breeders to tell sometimes.
