I wonder what it was doing here as well, its not typical for our parts to have them around let alone SEE them :D I have no idea why it wasn't scared I was standing right in front of it I bent down eye level to it and it still sat there looking at me I thought for sure when the flash went off it would bolt but it stayed and let me take a few pic's then he flew into the tree in front of our house after I shut the door :D

Oh that is totally awesome - I don't think owls are a very skittish animal, but I am not sure, since i've never seen one my self either lol

I think owls like deer, when you shine a light in they're eyes they freeze.

When my mom drives my brother to his work we'll see up to 7 or 8 huge redtail hawks. It's so cool!!

This one didn't seem to be frozen he was moving his head back and forth, I am feeling really lucky because there nocturnal many people never even get to see one let alone be close enough to touch it :D

His eyes are scary..hehe
I know!!!...hehe I was quick about the pic's, I was afraid he might try and fly at me, and the thought of his talons piercing my flesh was not to appealing....lol :p
lol! I'd be scared too. I once saw a hawk VERY close-sitting on my mom's fence. HUGE wingspan!

How wonderful! We get loads of owls here but I've never seen one in the wild before. It's such a special moment isn't it when something wild like that comes into our lives and is prepared to stay for a minute or two. Fantastic.

Darryl has just been looking on the net for the type of owl that it could be. The closest we have come to is a Great Horned Owl. We aren't familiar with Canadian type owls, I don't think we get them in this Country.

I was trying to look up on the net what kind it was as well I didn't realize there were so many different types of owls out there, thanks for pointing me in the right direction I will have to check out the Great Horned Owl and take a look, Plukie it really was a special moment to be that close to something so amazing ;)

The only "wild" animals I've seen up close are Deer, coyote's and fox ( all alive by the way lol well I've seen many deer up close and personnel not be alive as well)
but when I was still in school I'd get up for school every morning at AM look out my window and up on the hill - Every single morning for like 10 yrs this huge buck would come walking out of our pine trees - 10 pointer going a good 250 pnds of pure muscle he was HUGE, and then I'd look down into my driveway ( my room was upstairs) and there would be a coyote or 2 sleeping in my driveway
and we have fox out the ying yang back home it's nothing to be driving down the road and one jump out in front of your car

It actually stayed for about 10 minutes he just sat there looking around I was right beside it at the door and my husband and daughter where coming into the house from outside but they had to wait in the walkway they didn't want to frighten him...lol they would have had to stand right beside him to get in the door. I scared him off by accident :o I hit the camera on the screen door when I was trying to shut it and he took off into the tree in front of our house and I lost site of him.
