:cry::cry::cry::cry: we came home from work tonight and our scruff was her normal self , half hour later she made her way down the side of her cage , had problems as usual walking on the bars on the botttom , and sat down , she had been trying too nest, we think, in her food bowl for some days , then instead of being her normal bitey self towards me < she was Cazs bird even though i was the one to change her food and water every morning > she let me give her skritches , then both caz and i panicked and got her out the cage in our hands , contacted our vet but scruff died just a couple of minutes later cradled in my hands :cry::cry::cry::cry:
so quickly so sudden ,
we only had her a few short months
rescued from a round cage with another tiel ( sparks)
she was only, we believe, a couple of years old,
already leaving an enormous hole behind

I'm so sorry for your loss. :(

Sounds like egg binding. (which means she couldn't pass or expel an egg from her body)

many thanks for your kind words
we had her checked by our vet few days ago because we suspected egg binding , the vet said that at that time she was not egg bound , but as we researched eggbinding can take a loved bird in only a short time , being around 9.30 in the evening our nearest emergency vet was 40 minute drive away and the nearest emergency avian specialist was over 2 hours away .
we like to think that we made her last few months ( rescued her in february) more special and loved than before

I'm so sorry for your loss. That is so tragic. My mother's lory ended up dying in her arms. He was doing well and then all of a sudden just went to the bottom of the cage. He was acting funny and she picked him up. In a very short time he passed away.

May your little girl rest in peace.
