I have a double factor dominant silver whiteface male and am trying to decide what I would get if I bred my recessive silver hen to him. He wants to breed with my lutino spilt whiteface hen. I would appreciate info on each choice of hen. My birds are in my home and very well cared for and not over bred. Thanks

Sue, I realy enjoyed the Mutation thread you posted. I have a question though. I have a mated pair that just produced (hatched) their first peeps. The mother is I think a cinamon pearled. Her darker color is more brown than gray, but she has bright yellow pearled markings. The father is visably grey but I have been told that white edges to the mask points to a split to whiteface. He has white on the edge of his mask and all around his beak. Can you help me? Here is a picture.

It's easier to sprout millet spray. Some seed mixes have been sterilized and don't sprout well. I had some plant in my aviary and a couple of little pieces of millet fell in the pot and they came up like gangbusters. If you just want to do sprouted seed just put some in a jar with a little water and maybe a paper towel over the top attached with a rubber band. It needs air too. You need to rinse and put fresh water in a couple of times a day but it won't take long at all.

I will as soon as it seems appropriate. Sly is rather shy (hence the name). He was always hiding behind a toy when he was in the aviary. Harriet is a little calmer but I don't want to upset her. There is some debate as to what Sly is. WF Cinnamon or WF Fallow. If he's a Fallow all the babies will be WF gray with all the babies split to WF Fallow and the males split to WF CInnamon Pearl Like Harriet.
