Well, Beaker is the grouchy hormone boy and Jaid is the overreacting biter. Domino effect apparently.

Astrid has a journey ahead of her! She should take a little camera with her in the carrier. She really is a beautiful girl. She can fit in anywhere, so I hope for the best for both you and her

It's not Beaker with the biting, I said in my last one that Jaid was the biter and I meant Jaid. He overreacts and bites me really hard when I try to get them in the cage. Once they are back into the cage, everything dissipates. You know, I have tried the perch, but then B flies over and Jaid freaks out in a matter of seconds. The hand is the fastest, but I may try a glove because it seriously hurts. For some reason his rapid fire biting hurts a heck of a lot worse than one firm conure chomp.

I would totally take Astrid as the hen, but for one, I don't have the right kind of housing for her yet, two, I'm at my 4 bird limit and three, she would be eaten alive by the boys. Although that might not be a bad thing. Maybe they'll finally stop singing to their feet.

I think I'll stick to just 2 cockatiels for now. Two is plenty. Spending this week with them I'm all ready to croak over and die at 17 :p

I feel your pain. Beaker is being an absolute BRAT for the past week. Poor guy is hormonal and sexually frustrated. I've been treating him with hormone control, offering toys to shred and even attempting to see if I can find a sexual outlet for him, it worked for my lovebird when hormone control didn't work for him. He is very jealous of Jaid right now and Jaid is overreacting to every little freaking thing Beaker does. Offering to ask Jaid to step up results in me getting rapid fire biting and bloody chunks out of my hand. :( I lose the patience too when he bites like that, then I tell him "STEP. UP." It hurts.

I didn't think about a light clip but ever since B's wings came in back normal after months of work and clipping, I really don't want to touch them. Especially since this whole charade only when they are out of the cage. I don't know. Dumb boys. I miss my hens. I haven't had a hen in 3 years.

I'm glad Admiral is doing ok. He has such a cute voice

Hey moony, (sorry that probably annoys you when I call you that but it has become habit ;) )

I just wanted to see how everything was going with the flock and your snake, he's adorable by the way, I am in the process of getting an albino ball python myself. I gave Medusa, the snake I got for free, to a little boy who really loved her, so he was happy, but that was a year or so ago. I miss having a snake.

I just wanted to stop by and say sorry that you are going through rough financial times and I hope everything works out for you and the flock!

Hi Garance! :) I'm hoping you can help me. XD
I remember, I think, you posted a link to an article once before about the benefits of keeping a bird flighted and such.
I'd like to share it with someone, but I can't find the link.
    Thanks! ^^

Thanks so much! I'd never even thought of the angry noise, I'll definitely try that! I'm planning on getting into clicker training but he gets so distracted, I've really gotta work on it haha. Thank you for the advice though!

Hey Moon! I'm having a problem with my baby seeming to have a taste for human flesh. He chews on my fingers, my lips, my nose, my arms, he discovered my legs today. I've tried distraction, I've tried moving him, I've tried telling him no. Nothing has worked, and it's getting to be quite the issue. I posted a thread about it and CharVicki said that she thought she remembered your bird Astrid having the same problem, but you managed to resolve it. Do you have any tips? Simon is only 7 months old, and he's my first tiel, so I could use your experienced help! Thanks!

Cmon Moonchild, give Bandit a Dracula cape for Halloween. Imagine him saying "Listen to them, Children of the Night. What music they make!" :p

For some reason Bandit reminds me of Bela Lugosi's Dracula. Guess its his white face against dark fur...and the bats around him on your siggie ;-)

You know moonchild, one of the things why I feel so blessed with having my 2 tiels is they are truly exceptional birds. Other than their usual tiel mischefs around the house, even I'm surprised by how well they behave when I take them out. I take my birds outside quite often whenever the weather's nice, and honestly my tiels don't get spooked by anything to the extent that will make them flee. They do flinch over ambient noises and will reply to the chirps of nearby birds, but so far not one harmful incident has happened to them. Most of the time they just relax on my shoulder or hand feeling the outdoor air flow by, so the photos of them on the bricks is the only time they leave my grasp. I don't know, Moonchild, you can think I'm being reckless or cavalier but seriously...I'm sure we can all think of 100 other ways that people can really endanger their birds that are truly upsetting. Just food for thought :)

No, the glide feathers are kept and I also have the owner of my local shop clip them. She has been in the bird business for 40yrs.

Again, I really respect what others say but I'm sorry I do have a problem with how people express themselves here. I'm sure you wouldn't like someone telling you something in !!!!!!!!s either. You know, I didnt join this forum to see the same kind of juvenile behavior as other sites, so I guess I simply won't be as vocal from now on as before. As for my post, will just see if the final verdict is as you perceive

I'm all for keeping it civil, but there's always folks who seem to have a habit of being condescending or have a holier than thou attitude when it comes to their opinions. I got another objectionable comment to my post today about taking my birds outdoor ending with !!!!!!!!!!!!s. Dude, people need to just chill out sometimes and trust others to know what they're doing with their own pet :)
