Heart How Big is your Cockatiel?

Hello again everyone!

This is a question that I've had ever since the breeder which I purchased Enzo from told me that he was the runt; how much smaller is Enzo compared to regular sized Cockatiels?

Enzo won't allow be to get any type of measurement tool near him to measure how long he is, however, I did weigh him a little while ago and he weighed around 68 grams. (I plan on weighing him again soon to see if he's fluctuated again).

How small is this compared to your birds?
How much do your birds weigh?
And if you know, how long are your birds?

68 grams is pretty small! My tiels range in weight from 75 grams to just over 100.

Jabberwocky weighs in at 85g in the morning with an empty crop, he is 4.5 months old and semi-weaned.

Grendel is still at the breeders and he is at least the size of Jabberwocky and will probably top out at around 120g-130g based on the parents size, time in the box with mom & dad, and the current size of him.

That is pretty small, but not necessarily something to worry about. If you are able to feel his keel bone, you will be able to gauge if he is at a healthy weight or not. If the keel is sharp and pointy, he is underweight; if he has good muscle tone on either side of the bone and it's not sharp to the touch, he's just right.

Coco is the runt in my flock, weighing in at 76g. Henry is the heaviest at 110g but he is a bit overweight (can barely feel his keel bone) so no treats for him for a while!

Jabberwocky is weaned...she just loves making you syringe feed her because then she gets to run around flinging formula everywhere, that is the best part of her day. Then she nicely sits with me till bed <3

Peebles' lowest weight was 68, and his highest was 73. The vet confirmed that he is underweight, but not dangerously so--he's just old. I feed him, I swear!
