Default My Cockateil screeches all day

Hi there, Hercules has started screeching all day long. She will not stop. In or out of the cage it does not matter. The only time it stops is when she is eating or getting head and neck scratches.

What can/should I do. Right now she has been at it since 6 am and it's almost 10 here. This is going on for a few weeks now.

I really need some advice as to what to do. Thanks

Sounds like a problem my Martian had. His owner had issues with him being aggressive when it was time to go back in his cage. He said it started at about a year old and was the only cockatiel they had.
How old is she? She may see you as her mate and the separation may be causing some anxiety. When teils are separated from their mates they scream for them.

Thanks for the reply. She just screeches, sitting on my shoulder, on my head or arm, screech screech all the time. The only time she stops is about 8pm in evening. Today I had no choice but to put her in an upstairs room and darken it. She stayed quiet for maybe 2 hours and screeched again. The screeches get louder and more piercing the longer she is at it.
I really don't know what to do.

Do you ever take her outside in her cage? Maybe she's responding to the birds outside.

Really Happy Thanks for your kind help

Hercules accidentally escaped almost a year ago for 5 days, and since then she has been frightened of any bird that flies past the windows. Her cage is not in sight of a window for a long time now.

However, we have solved the problem. She has since settled down and returned to her normal self. We placed a mirror in a place where she could see it. We did not realise, but once it was moved, she gradually started to return to her normal self

Glad you found the cause of your girl's screeching! Birds are weird, aren't they? One little thing can set them off, and we fight to find out the cause.
