Try sitting it next to the cage to start with, so they can see it but it's not too close to them. Some birds need to be introduced to new things slowly. My guys are the same whenever I buy them a different toy, but once they realise 'hey, I can pull this apart' the fear melts away and it becomes their new favourite thing.

I usually hang or lay the new object they're terrified of below their perching height so they have a chance to look at it at their leisure Usually a day or two of this and they are somewhat used to their object.

Good luck to you! That new perch looks awesome

I have seen those small step like perches and I think they are so cool. I was thinking of making a staircase up the side of the cage with them. It would be so cute to see Jabberwocky climbing the "stairs" to get to a toy.

Haha I really want like five cages that I can set up and mess with and make toys for...I just need more birds

i got 2 of these cat cages.. around US$140 each?.. 170cm H x 93cm W x 57cm D.. and its 1cm apart the cage bars

i left one side open, and moved up the bottom so when they start flapping their wings at the bottom of the cage less dust fly all over

it also comes with rollers so i can combine it into one giant of a cage.. or lean one open side against the wall to make 2 separate cages

cat cages are much cheaper.. a similar sized bird cage would cost 3-4 times i think
