Exclamation Urgent! - is Morty sick?

Hi, Morty has been over the past months a blast to have, very active and super tame.
This morning we uncovered him as usual but he seemed quite sleep and didn't move from his perch for some time.
Even when we gave him his 'breakfast' which he usually runs to eat to he ignored it completely and hasn't eaten anything so far. Even when holding him e.g. a sunflower seed in front of it he doesn't want to eat it. He drank a bit of water only so far.
His droppings appear a bit water but overall color looks fine as usual.
But even when he is sitting now in his playground he looks like he can fall asleep any second on it. Where usually in the morning he wants to fly as much as he can.

Any idea? Should I bring them to the vet?

I would definitely take him to the Vet.

When a bird starts to act different, it's always best to take them to a avian vet for a check-up in order to make sure that nothing is wrong with the bird and if there is, that it can be caught quickly. Since he's not eating and has become suddenly very inactive, I would take him in for a check-up, even if his droppings look normal.

Better safe then sorry in cases like this.

If possible please go to have him checked out by a qualified vet. I wouldnt wait for more than a day, if no significant improvement, just go. They are so good at hiding illness until its too late, if he doesnt seem basically normal in 24 hours, he needs to be checked.

I thought everything was fine with one of my girls... painfully it wasnt. Wont make that mistake twice.

We brought him to the vet. Seems he has a bacterial infection, as they found his throat and inner eye-lid is red.
So have to try to get him to eat more (have a syringe for that now too) and put him on antibiotics.

At least sounds not too serious so far, fingers crossed he will recover quickly.

My Ava had a throat infection about 2 months ago. I could def tell she was getting back to herself when she was half done with them. She was then flying and moving more ect. Ava was still quiet like that for the first couple of days on the antibiotics but it will pick up.

Default Morty

How is Morty doing? I am glad you were able to get him to the vet so they could find out what was wrong. How did giving him his meds go? It's no fun giving a bird medications!

I agree! It used to be so hard when I used to give my bird eye drops. Hope you don't have the same problem, and that Morty recovers soon. Keep us updated.
