Default Why does my cockatiel keep gaining weight?

I have a 2 year old female, she eats mostly harrison's pellets. we give her 2 or3 teaspoons a day like it says on the bag, but lately it's just been 2. in about a month she's gone from 106 to 110 grams. we want her to be around 96, so we stopped giving her nutriberries and rationing her food intake off a lot since we knew she was eating a lot and thought that would be good enough.

but she's only gained weight since then. why would that be? everything else seems fine, her droppings seem a little smaller since we put her on a "diet", but i figured that's just because we're giving her less to eat. i know a few grams of fluctuation is normal, but it doesn't seem to be going down at all, only up. any tips on getting it down?

My guess would be seasonal weight gain, probably inspired by the knowledge that it's spring which is a good time to make babies. My flock is a little chunkier right now than they are at some other times of the year.

She may need more exersise, I dont know how big is her cage or how often she is out. Another thing is like Tielfan said- may be her preparation for breeding. Some of my females do put a significant weight when resting from breeding. And some are naturally fat,its almost as it is with humans ,but chunky chicks do become pretty fat adults, even though they eat the same diet as their normal aviary mates
