Hey guys! Haven't been posting much lately, just finished a massive round of work. Thought I'd drop by with some new pics of Gregory Peck and to also say a long overdue thank you to all those that gave me advice and support since I got him.

I've also become curious again about 'his' gender. He isn't all that vocal, a lot of calling out to me for cuddles, but not much singing tunes or attempts at talking. He does like to be whistled tunes tho and will respond with soft happy tweets. He loves attacking and playing with his toys, and really enjoys hanging upside down being a 'bat bird' as I call it.

He is now over 15 months old. I know that the pearling fades out in the cocks, so I'm getting suspicious because if anything, Gregory became more colourful as time went on. Any ideas?

I've posted 2 photos that start with him as a baby and the others are recent, the last two were taken today by my boyfriend. Excuse the orange beak, someone is a carrot addict.

Well his pearling would fade out quicker, except he's also a pied, and even if he's a cock, pieds will hang onto them longer.

Almost inclined to say he's a hen, but he could also just be a quiet boy

It can take years for cocks to lose their markings, but "his" behavior sounds more female than male.

Behaviour-wise, I would say girl. Beautiful pics

Gorgeous either way, but I'd also guess your darling is a lady.

Thanks you guys. I love 'him' so much, and thank you to everyone. I did kind of suspect that he may have been female.

I may have to head over to the health section at some point to ask some questions about what to look out for from female cockatiels. I've only owned a female once before to be honest, but I was only a young teenager and she died of old age.

I may have my 'mystery' DNA tested one day, but it's not high on my list of things to do.

But seriously, I have a happy healthy bird who is my bestest bud, and I just LOVE his colouring! Those wings are gorgeous!

Love to you guys and your birdie buds. Xxoo

Hello! He is beautiful! When we got our 5 month old cockatiel, we were told it was a boy. Our vet suspected a girl and said for $25 to get the DNA test to confirm since girl's can suffer from chronic egg laying and other issues. Well we found out we have a girl! She is extremely vocal, and can say love you. This is why we thought we had a boy.

I think when you can a DNA test would help. That way you can look out for egg laying and anything that could occur with it.
