Hi all
We have tons of maple trees around the house
Could these be safe to use for natural perches?

This link says that maple is generally safe, but there are some species where you should remove the bark: http://www.mdvaden.com/bird_page.shtml

Red maple causes the most concern, but this site also says that it's safe i you remove the bark: https://www.beautyofbirds.com/safewoods.html

I want to add that you may have no idea where those tree branches have been; humans may have sprayed them with chemicals or they may have traces of pollutants on them. If you use natural branches for perches, be sure to clean them with a good, bird-safe disinfectant before giving them to your birds.

We have lived here for six years and I would only use the branches from our own trees. However I will absolutely disinfect!
Thank you!
