Try using a spoon, it's much harder to asphyxiate with a spoon... I use a small human baby spoon.

You could try removing the father and see whether the mother will take care of the baby by herself. Some parents will give up if their partner is removed, so you'll need to watch carefully to make sure the baby is still being fed.

Observed mother and baby and caught mother plucking also!!! So I have pulled the chick and figured out the formula was cooling too fast, so starting keeping it in bowl of hot water, now it is a great feeder and feathers growing solid
