Default Sneezing

Hi everyone,
Since Hercules laid her eggs (4th arrived Sunday) she sneezes quite a bit.

Is this something I should be concerned about?

Thanks

What kind of bedding are you using? She may be sensitive to it.

She has shredded paper on the floor of the cage. She does not have a nesting box etc.

Shredded paper shouldn't cause sneezing. Cockatiels do sneeze quite frequently due to their dust, but if this is brand new for your time then I'd watch her carefully. Are her droppings normal color and consistency? Is she eating and drinking normally? Is she active, acting normally? I don't believe it's at all related to her laying eggs.

@ElledD thanks for your reply. I agree with you.
I normally clean out her cage daily and it's washed often. This has not been the case since she laid the first egg as I was nervous to interfere.
As she came out to poop and her cage was void of almost everything I did not follow my normal pattern.

Last night as she was out for her daily constitutional yesterday my partner cleaned out her cage. He was very careful with her eggs etc.

Hercules was not happy when she went back in her cage, and I thought we had done a terrible thing. As we left for work today she was sitting again on all four, and this evening when I came home, she came out for her constitutional flew around and went back to sit on her eggs.

Sneezing has stopped.

I hope I did not do to much damage moving her eggs.

She may have just had some dander stuck in her nose. Zoe often has sneezing fits after she has preened or if she flaps around and stirs up all her dust and dander before i've cleaned her cage and vacuumed lol.

She's an only hen right? No male? Why are you worried about knocking her out of breeding? You WANT her to stop. You want her to abandon those eggs. Continue with your daily routine, it may make her give up on the eggs and not lay again.

I thought if eggs are removed then she would continue to lay until they are replaced?

If she abandons them on her own, she won't replace them because she abandoned the nest. You want her to abandon the nest. You really want her to decide that the environment she's in isn't safe for breeding.
