Hi all,

I am just curious, are there any nuts that are okay for a cockatiel to eat?

As far as I know nuts in moderation are okay for a cockatiel to eat, but because of their relatively weaker beaks compared to birds of similar size, you might want to feed them slivers instead of the whole nut.

Nuts have more or less the same nutrient composition as sunflower seed. Some have more of this nutrient and less of that one, but overall there's not a huge amount of difference between them. They're all high in fat so don't go crazy with them, but they're fine in moderation. I have a chart showing the nutritional content of some grains, seeds and nuts that are commonly fed to parrots, with a couple of vegetables thrown in for contrast:
